Monday 20th November will see the start of the first, annual Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival fortnight.
In its inaugural year, the Business Festival has already become the largest business event in the region, with a packed programme consisting of 114 events and thousands of attendees expected over the fortnight.
The Festival comprises an amalgamation of business events put on by organisations from across the region, featuring everything from trade shows, conferences and workshops to seminars, debates, showcases and webinars.
There will be plenty going on over the forthcoming fortnight with hundreds of different events being staged all over Coventry & Warwickshire in a wide range of subjects including automotive and advanced manufacturing, education, gaming, digital, cultural, professional and financial services and much more.
Most events are free and anyone can attend.

Deeley Construction has won a major award for its commitment to keeping its staff – and members of the public – safe.
The company has been awarded the Building Safety Group’s (BSG) Member of the Year for the Midlands in 2017.
BSG is a not-for-profit organisation and is the UK’s largest construction safety group for health, safety and environmental advice. It has members right across the country and picks out companies from each region that has gone the extra mile when it comes to health and safety.
BSG managing director Paul Kimpton said: “To be eligible for this award, the BSG member must be able to demonstrate that the company has a framework in place which helps to improve safety and health performance on construction projects and covers all stages of a project including planning, design and post construction.
“The overarching objective is to reduce the number of accidents and deaths on construction sites and to improve the ability of the industry as a whole to deliver safer construction projects and equally important, healthier employees.
“When selecting a winning member for each BSG region we have looked for companies that have been able to show evidence of health and safety leadership by communicating its importance to all stakeholders in the company.
“The successful company is also seen to be promoting effective health and safety management at the design stage of a project as well as managing and measuring health & safety risk.
“It is also clear that the company is entrenching best health and safety practice as part of the company’s culture.
“We are delighted to say that Deeley Construction has proved to be an outstanding company when it comes to all of these practices and, therefore, have made them our Midlands Member of the Year.”
Martin Gallagher, managing director of Deeley Construction, said ensuring sites are safe is the company’s number one priority.
He said: “Our view is that this is absolutely the right thing to do and nothing should be left to chance when it comes to safety on a construction site.
“On top of that, it makes great business sense to have all of the necessary practices in place when it comes to health and safety.
“If everyone knows the processes and procedures and what they have to do to abide by them, it means they can get on with the job of delivering construction projects on time and on budget for our clients.”

A Coventry construction company has continued its commitment to bringing forward the next generation of talent in the industry.
Deeley Construction, which is based at George House at Coventry Business Park, has taken on three new apprentices to assist with the firm’s continued growth.
Charlie Stevens and Matt Byrne are both management trainees with the company and Katie-May Cashmore is a trainee accounts assistant.
Charlie is undertaking a Construction Management Degree at Birmingham City University, while Matt is studying for a BTEC Diploma in Construction Level 3 at South & City College Birmingham. Katie-May is completing an AAT Diploma Level 2 at Coventry College City Campus.
The trio continue a long-held tradition at Deeley Construction of growing its own workforce with almost 20 per cent of the company’s staff coming through the firm as an apprentice.
It’s a proud record that includes managing director Martin Gallagher, who welcomed Charlie, Matt and Katie-May to the company.
Martin said: “The skills shortage in construction is one of the biggest issues facing our industry but here at Deeley Construction we have always seen apprenticeships as a great route to growing our own and the industry’s future workforce.
“I know only too well the benefits of being an apprentice having started my career as one. It gave me the opportunity to work my way up through the business to the point where I am now able to give others the same chance I had.
“It’s great that Charlie, Matt and Katie-May want to develop a career in construction and also highlights that there are many roles in our sector from being out on-site through to being based in the office.
“As a company, we continue to grow and the addition of three new apprentices is a perfect way for us to start looking ahead to 2018.”

A classic West End hit musical will be the first major schools production to be staged at a new hall in Warwick.
Pupils from Warwick School and King’s High School are collaborating in the school edition of one of the world’s most popular musicals, Les Misérables, from Wednesday, November 8 to Saturday, November 11 at 7pm.
It will be the first major schools production held in the new Warwick Hall, which was completed in September 2016 by Deeley Construction.
The new Warwick Hall is a 1,000-seat, £7.5 million state-of-the-art venue which features performing arts studios, exhibition space and improved acoustics.
It replaced the old Guy Nelson Hall and saw more than £1 million raised by the school through dedicated activities to help fund construction.
The musical will feature the hit songs “I Dreamed A Dream”, “Bring Him Home”, “One Day More” and “On My Own”.
The international show has been seen by more than 70 million people worldwide and continues to break box-office records.
Cat Price and Mike Perry will direct the production, with design by Judy Reaves and lighting by Ian Roberts.
Warwick School Upper Sixth student Samuel Young will feature as musical director.
Deeley Construction, which is part of the Deeley Group, are sponsoring the production, in partnership with the Friends of Warwick School.

Brand new student residences have been officially opened at Royal Leamington Spa College.
The new accommodation is named Wood Hall after WCG’s Chair Stephen Wood, and he officially opened the halls with Matt Western, MP for Warwick and Leamington. Invited guests enjoyed a tour of the facilities, as well as tea and cake in aid of the Macmillan Coffee Morning campaign which raised £100.
The new accommodation consists of 98 ensuite rooms with shared kitchens and a warden flat. Students and apprentices have already moved into the accommodation which was built by Deeley Construction.
The new £4.5 million development came about when WCG was in discussion with Deeley Properties, the development division of the Deeley Group, on its need for more student residences. The company came up with an innovative way of funding the scheme by inviting a pension fund to invest in the development, allowing Deeley Properties to take care of the design, build, finance and land package.
Stephen Wood, Chair of the WCG Governing Body, said: “I was absolutely delighted to officially open Wood Hall today. The new accommodation is fantastic for our students and apprentices, especially being on the college site, and it shows we are committed to investing in the best facilities for the benefit of our students and the local area.”
John Vickery, Director of Estates for WCG, said: “The demand is high for student accommodation so it has been great to work with Deeley and their contractors on this project. I’d like to thank them and all of the college staff from the estates and accommodation teams who have been involved and delivered the project on time.”
Matt Western, MP, said: “It was great to visit the Leamington campus of Warwickshire College Group and view first hand the impressive new residential blocks. The new student accommodation is spacious, high quality and is a welcome addition in encouraging students from further afield to come and study at one of the UK’s best FE colleges. I congratulate Deeley Construction and WCG on this exemplar development.”

A new sensory room which will support some of the most vulnerable children at a Coventry school and act as a lasting legacy to a well-known construction worker has been officially opened.
A special event was held at St Patrick’s Primary School to mark the completion of two extensions which were built in only six weeks by Coventry-based Deeley Group.
The sensory room has been named after Martin Curtin, who worked for The Deeley Group for 58 years, and passed away in December last year at the age of 86.
The event also marked the completion of an expansion to the staff room, providing teachers with a dedicated workspace to plan lessons.
The school, which is part of the Romero Catholic Academy, and Deeley Group welcomed members of Martin’s family for the sensory room’s official opening where they were able to take a look at the space, hear more about what it will be used for and enjoy tea and cake.
Deeley Group completed the work after Peter Deeley visited the school to hear more about its needs. The firm worked with a number of local contractors to complete the build at a highly reduced cost, with all of the work taking place during the summer break.
Andrea Sherratt, Principal at St Patrick’s Primary School, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our two extensions which wouldn’t have been possible without support from The Deeley Group.
“We had a very tight budget, but Peter Deeley and the company have the community at heart and wanted to help the school andsupport the children, so offered to complete the work below cost.
“Deeley also ensured that all of the work was done throughout the school holidays so it did not cause any disruption to the children’s learning.
“It is an honour to name our sensory room after Martin Curtin, a lot of people in Coventry knew him and our new room will be a lasting legacy. The room is a blank canvas and will be used to provide additional support to some of our most vulnerable children.
“It was excellent to welcome Peter and others involved in the project as well as members of Martin’s family for the official opening.”
Peter Deeley added: “I was delighted to support St Patrick’s Primary School with this project, leaving a legacy in the community which will support children for years to come.
“Martin was one of our finest employees who worked as one of our senior site managers for many years, and it is wonderful that the new sensory room has been named in his honour. It is also good to hear that teachers are already putting their new workspace to good use.”

Deeley Group has secured a place on the HCA’s Delivery Partner Panel 3.
The HCA DPP3 is valued at £8 billion in housing and associated development over the next four years, doubling the forecast for spending from the previous framework value.
Deeley Group has successfully secured a place on the three lots applied for in the Midlands, South & South West and East & South East regions, which between them have a combined estimated value of £5.3 billion.
The Deeley Group has offered land, finance, design and build options to housing associations for decades.
In recent years, it has delivered over 550 affordable, private rental and extra care homes for the likes of Orbit Homes, Waterloo Housing, and Stonewater.

One of Stratford’s largest landlords and developers, Orbit, is celebrating its first venture into the Private Rented Sector with the opening of Fordham House in the heart of the town.
