Central Six Retail Park - Coventry



This problematic site was transformed into the first “fashion park” in Coventry in a development that required Deeley Properties to collaborate effectively with all the key stakeholders.

Deeley Properties, along with its development partner Boots Properties, was appointed preferred developer in an open competition in 1996. The site was a former railway goods yard located just outside Coventry’s inner ring road.

The site had been difficult to deliver due to its proximity to the West Coast mainline, having a high level public right of way traversing it as well as complex ownership structures.


However, working with the City of Coventry and Railtrack we delivered Coventry’s first dedicated “fashion park” which is currently home to Gap, Next, Boots and Littlewoods amongst others.
Central 6, prosaically named as it sits off junction 6 of the inner ring road, represents one of a successful number of project specific joint ventures that we have carried out.


Working with our sister company, Deeley Construction, we were able to deliver the scheme to tight, pre-determined timescales to suit the launch dates of national retailers.


The single storey steel-framed buildings were clad in brickwork with “High Street” type shop fronts and a 150 metre long arcade with three storey stained timber clad structures marking the entrance to each store.


On completion of the scheme the investment was sold to Standard Life.
