Bermuda Village - Nuneaton
Bermuda Village in Nuneaton demonstrates our ability to create a vision for the regeneration of an area and to make a long term commitment.

Our involvement with Bermuda Village commenced over thirty years ago and it continues today. The village and its surroundings comprise 385 acres.
During this long period we have worked closely and successfully with Nuneaton and Bedworth District Council, Warwickshire County Council, Advantage West Midlands and the Arbury Estate to provide a high quality mixed-use development with extensive open space and recreation areas.
When we acquired the site the village was in severe decline. In this former mining community 66% of the ninety existing houses were empty. The whole housing stock was in a very poor state of repair. Immediately Deeley undertook a comprehensive programme of refurbishment and modernisation of all the existing houses. Today our in-house team manage the estate and it is fully occupied.
Before any new development could happen, large scale remediation, re-profiling and stabilization works were required to deal with former mine workings and other abnormal ground conditions on the site:
- Remaining coal extracted, site backfilled, compacted and remodeled
- Disused arm of the Coventry Canal removed
- Extensive new storm and foul drainage system constructed
- Balancing lakes introduced to create new twenty acre water facility known locally as the "blue lagoon". This is a sustainable and environmentally friendly technical solution to infrastructure problems.
New accesses were constructed directly onto A444 giving greater connectivity to the village and subsequent residential and commercial developments including an improvement of bus services.
Over the years approximately eight hundred new houses have been constructed on the vacant land adjacent to the village. The latest housing phase is currently under construction.
The latest retail and commercial phase, Eliot Business Park, is reclaiming and developing a former fourteen acre household waste disposal site withs support from Advantage West Midlands. The business park includes four car showrooms, large and small office accommodation and the'EPIC' Building (an incubation facility for new businesses).
