Dorset Street - Southampton

A derelict site in central Southampton was transformed into a prime office building, dramatically improving one of the main approaches into the city.

The site fronts onto Dorset Street (A33) the main arterial route into Southampton City Centre from the North. Lying in a prominent position on the edge of the City’s central business district this site had been derelict for over 20 years. We have undertaken a complex decontamination exercise of the site.

Following receipt of planning permission for a 4 storey office building we commenced construction of this prestigious and prominent office building. Prior to practical completion we pre-let three out of the four floors to Grant Thornton.

By working with their space planners and incorporating their fit-out into the main construction contract we managed to meet their exacting timetable for occupation.

Also during the construction process we incorporated a significant piece of glass public art in the main elevation.
