Deeley sponsorship helps golf day raise charity funds
Charitable golfers from across the Midlands have gone a ‘fairway’ to raising a bumper donation for Cancer Research UK.
Participants at Hearsall Golf Club’s annual am-am tournament donated a total of £1,800 during the day after the course’s 10th hole was chosen to be a charity nearest the pin together with an auction at the presentation.
All of the event’s 180 players took part, with Coventry property group, Deeley, sponsoring the hole and providing the winner with a valuable Scotty Cameron putter.
Jason Goldberg, who organised the event, said: “The tournament was very well backed this year and we had 45 four-man teams competing, with players coming from across Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider Midlands.
“The tournament is traditionally the club’s way to showcase the quality of the course and the facilities, but it’s also a very good way to make a significant contribution to a good cause.
“We have been fortunate to have received the support of some excellent sponsors, like John Reay and the Deeley Group, who have helped us offer great prizes and that helped ensure there was an extra incentive for a strong turnout.
“It’s meant that everyone had a great day on the course and a large amount has been raised for Cancer Research UK, so we’re delighted with how this year’s event went.”
The tournament’s winning team was made up of Dave Marlow, Steve Rice, Mick Collins and Dave Albrighton. They received £1,000 worth of vouchers to spend at John Reay golf in Coventry.
The winner of the charity hole was Dave Mathews, who placed his shot one foot from the pin.
Jordan Ryan, of the Deeley Group, said: “We were very pleased to sponsor the hole and the generosity of everyone who took part was superb. It’s great to have raised such a sizeable cheque.
“The tournament is long-standing but it really took a step-up this year and everyone seemed to enjoy their round. Jason did a fantastic job and I’m already looking forward to next year!”
