Work has started to create a new £7.5 million state-of-the-art office complex for Nuneaton-based health product retailer Holland & Barrett.

The company, which has more than 550 stores across the UK and is the leading retailer of vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements, is relocating its 125 head office staff to Eliot Park and has plans to further grow.

Planning consent was granted for the 35,000 sq ft three story office building in September and the project is expected to be completed late next year.

Nuneaton MP Bill Olner and Holland & Barrett chief executive Peter Aldis helped developers and builders the Deeley Group get work underway.

Mr Aldis said: “This is a very exciting time for Holland & Barrett and the creation of the new headquarters will give everyone the perfect base from which to take the company forward.

“I am sure that everyone in the company will be following the construction with interest and it is great to already see the building coming out of the ground.”

Pat Moroney, a director of Deeley Properties, said the start of work was a boost to the local economy as well as Eliot Park.

“Holland & Barrett is a household name and a highly respected brand, and the fact it has chosen to move within the town is very good news.

“This will be a landmark building and will perfectly complement the existing companies and organisations already on the park and add to what is already a highly successful development.”

Eliot Business Park was first unveiled in 2000 and its occupiers include the Department of Work and Pensions, Warwickshire County Council, along with smaller businesses.
