The new Customer Services Centre brings a number of council services all together in one easily accessible place.
Broadgate House is in a very prominent position situated in the main shopping precinct of Coventry, and opposite the remodelled Broadgate Square.
The refurbishment consisted of remodelling two floors of office space and adapting the former Vodafone shop in the Upper Precinct to create a new ground floor entrance.
The new Customer Services Centre brings a number of council services all together in one easily accessible place. The city centre location makes it accessible for everyone and was a key part of the Council’s plans to transform how it provides its services.
There are benefits to bringing a number of services together in to one place, reducing the number of buildings and reception points.
The construction of a new lift pit and metal framed blockwork lift shaft with integral staircase, highlights the major work undertaken on this refurbishment.
Due to the refurbishment taking place in an occupied building, working hours were set between 07:00-19:00 with noisy works to be carried out 07:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00. Stairs were required to be used in quiet times to again minimise the impact on the occupants. To reduce the visual impact, access was arranged through the rear entrance of a car park.
Through value engineering we were able to meet the council’s budgetary and quality requirements.
