The Deeley Group will be helping fellow Coventry and Warwickshire businesses cast an eye into the future of the region across a number of in-depth seminars.
The company will welcome business leaders and associates from across the region to two engaging discussions at their Herald Avenue headquarters, and will be supporting another event held in Leamington as part of this year’s Coventry and Warwickshire Business Festival.
The first of two seminars hosted by Deeley Group asks the question ‘How do we enhance Coventry & Warwickshire?’ and will take place on Wednesday, November 13.
Speakers including Bill Blincoe, Planning and Development Adviser at Coventry & Warwickshire LEP as well as Rob Bennett, Associate at SQW Limited and David Harley, Head of Regeneration at independent regeneration company Be First will go into detail on the need for a strong planning policy as well as public and private sector collaboration in order to support regional growth.
Guests and speakers will also be looking at ways to aid development in a planning and biodiversity seminar on Wednesday, November 20.
The session will feature expert advice from two leading organisations, Barton Willmore and Wharton Natural Infrastructure Consultants, on recent changes to the planning system and how to deliver biodiversity requirements. It will also feature insight from Deeley Group Development Director Anthony Holt.

It will be ran in association with Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses.
The event will feature experts showcasing the latest technology advancements that can help the construction industry streamline their operations and encourage innovation.

Pupils at a Coventry primary school became painters and then decorators as part of a project aimed at celebrating the city’s most important buildings.
The project formed part of “Coventry – This is my City”, a week-long event that introduced students at Holy Family primary school to the history of the city.
Pupils from a range of year groups were visited by local artists Lesley Whelan and Laura John who were on hand to share their knowledge and expertise.
Armed with their sketch books and pencils, the children researched some of Coventry’s most significant buildings and monuments, including the Lady Godiva Statue, the Ricoh Arena and Holy Family church.
Sketching the outlines in pencil, the students then added a splash of colour to create a series of bold and expressive paintings, which were then blown up and installed in the KS2 playground for children, parents and visitors to enjoy courtesy of the Deeley Group which sponsored the project.
Design & Technology teacher, Mrs Danielle Newman, was impressed by the quality of the student’s work and heralded the project a success.
“The children were excited to find out more about some of Coventry’s most important buildings and monuments.
“Lesley and Laura encouraged the students to express themselves and the results speak for themselves – the pictures are exceptional!”
According to Mrs Newman, not only did the project give students the chance to develop their artistic skills, it demonstrated the relationship between art and design.
“It was really interesting because by sketching the buildings, the children were introduced to the concept of architecture.
“We are also very grateful to the Deeley Group for their support. Projects like this are so important for young learners.”
Mrs Newman added: “It has definitely piqued their interests in art and design as well as their city.”

The popular Starley Sportive charity cycle ride is set to return to the Coventry and Warwickshire roads in 2020.
It will give riders a chance to get their fitness wheels turning in the region’s first mass-participation cycling event of the year.
More than £13,000 was raised by participants in the last event and organisers are hoping to take the total funds raised in the event’s history beyond £40,000 next year, by attracting an even bigger turnout.
Around 750 riders are expected to take part next year on Sunday, February 16, again raising money for a range of local and national charities.
The event organised by Coventry Road Club, the Deeley Group, and Coventry City Council aims to promote wellbeing and healthier lifestyles. Whilst enhancing the city’s sporting profile, continuing the legacy of the city’s year as European City of Sport.
Riders will set off from the Deeley Group head office on Herald Avenue and have the choice of tackling three distances this year – a 28.6 mile route, a 63.2 mile long-distance ride, or the epic 86.5 mile challenge – that proved so popular in the last event.
For the next Starley Sportive, Coventry’s Zoe’s Place Children Hospice & Warwickshire’s Young People First are the two main charities being supported by funds raised, with both supporting the event with volunteers.
Participants are also being encouraged to raise money for any causes close to their heart, while Zoe’s Place, Young People First, Myton Hospice and University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire Charity have been offered a number of free entries to anyone who registers via them for the event.
The sportive celebrates the contributions of inventors James and John Kemp Starley to the world of bicycles.
James Starley is known as the father of the bicycle industry, while his nephew John Kemp Starley is widely regarded as the inventor of the modern bicycle – both worked and lived in Coventry.

Ian Court, Racing Secretary at Coventry Road Club, was named Volunteer of the Year at the Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire Sports Awards for his role in the organisation of the Starley Sportive.

“The event is about inclusion and getting people together for a great time. We want people to feel like they can join in and have fun cycling whatever their cycling goals are”

Deeley Homes has completed a deal to purchase a residential development site with planning permission for the construction of 55 new properties in Leicestershire.
The 6.15 acre site, three miles west of Asfordby near Melton Mowbray, was acquired through land experts Mather Jamie and construction is due to start in Spring 2020.
The development will include 20 market sale homes, 25 shared ownership homes and 10 rented homes. The first homes are expected to be available by the end of next year.
Asfordby is well-connected with transport links to Melton Mowbray, Loughborough and Nottingham.
The village benefits from pubs, takeaway restaurants, a garage post office and convenience store, which are in close proximity to the development site.
There are primary and secondary school options in the vicinity, all of which are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and private education options are also available at nearby Oakham and Loughborough.

A Warwickshire village is celebrating after winning a planning battle that has led to a new development and which will “bring more vitality to local life”.
The Meadows is a new 10-home development delivered by Deeley Homes in Pillerton Priors near Stratford.
Three of the properties have already been sold, and Pillerton Priors Parish Council chairman Ian Greenall was invited to perform an open ceremony after the council ensured the development went ahead.
He said: “We are delighted to see The Meadows opening and people moving in. Originally planners were against the development but we could see that it would be good for the village to have new homes of different sizes and types to attract people here, so we fought that decision.
“We worked closely with Deeley Homes and they were more than happy to supply the variety of housing we felt would be of most benefit, so we are very pleased that the development is not only open but is proving successful. It will bring more vitality to local life.”
The Meadows features two, three and four bedroomed houses and bungalows and looks over open countryside. The site used to belong to the family of local vicar the Rev J Findon, and its road is named Findon Fields in their honour.
Anthony Holt, a director of Deeley Homes, said The Meadows was an example of a village determining how new homes would be of benefit.
“The Parish Council felt quite strongly that not only was this site suitable for new homes but also that any development had to feature a variety of sizes and types of property,” he said.

A new development of family homes on a key site in Moreton-in-Marsh is due to start work later this autumn.
Deeley Homes has bought the two-acre site of the town’s former hospital on Hospital Road and is planning to create 20 homes.
The former hospital, which is locally listed, will be converted into apartments, while 12 new detached homes and four town houses will be created across the site on the west of the town.
It is the first housing project the Deeley Group has undertaken in the town but it was the company behind the creation of the Budgens store, and has developed successful schemes -across the region including most recently at Pillerton Priors near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Peter Deeley, managing director of the Deeley Group, said the location was ideal to create new homes for people wishing to move within the town but also to attract families new to the area.
He said: “Moreton-in-Marsh is a beautiful market town and we are delighted to be working here again and will deliver high-quality homes which the setting so deserves.
“Hospital Road is right in the heart of the town running parallel to High Street so this development will play a key role in town life and allow the home-owners to benefit from the wide range of activities which go on in the town throughout the year.
“We are bringing forward a development which we feel will enhance the surrounding area and at the same time widen the choice of property available in one of the most sought-after towns in the Cotswolds.”
The development will feature four two-bedroom apartments, detached homes with two, three, four and five bedrooms, and two-bedroom townhouses.
Deeley Homes has purchased the site from Blue Cedar Homes which had been planning a development aimed for older buyers. It has made several adjustments which have been approved by Cotswolds District Council.
Anthony Holt, of Deeley Homes, said it was hoped that the show home would be completed for next spring.
He said: “The location of the site and the retention of the former hospital building really allows us to create something unique which will certainly add to the housing offer of the town.
“It is unusual for a site of this size to become available so close to the centre of a market town in the Cotswolds, and we are fully aware of its significance and impact to the local area.

The Deeley Group is supporting a local youth work charity working with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the region.
The construction and development company is hosting a reception for Young People First on Tuesday, September 17 between 5pm and 7.30pm at its George House headquarters on Coventry Business Park.
Young People First is a charitable organisation providing positive activities and one-to-one support for young people whose lives are limited by disadvantage.
It was founded in 1954 and since then has been working with young people in Coventry and Warwickshire to be more confident and overcome problems in order to transition into their adulthood.

Work is underway on a new £3.7 million mixed-use development near Aylesbury.
Coventry-based Deeley Construction has started work on a new children’s day nursery, retail unit and 17 apartments in Pegasus Way, Haddenham, in partnership with Henry Davidson Developments.
The scheme, which is on the site of a former airfield, is set for completion in the summer of 2020 and will bring into use the site for the community.
The National Coop has already committed to the convenience store, which will be situated on the ground floor along with a Bright Horizons Nursery and Pre-school, with the two-bedroom homes on the first and second floors.
Steve Turner, construction director at Deeley Construction, said: “We have worked in this area on many occasions previously and this is another scheme that will bring economic and social benefits to Haddenham.
“The scheme is part of a wider development where there are more than 200 houses under construction, some of which are already occupied so we have worked with the developer to ensure those residents are not affected by our work.
