Continuing our development of the Bermuda Area in Nuneaton which we have been involved with since the 1970’s, we have provided Stonewater Housing with 27 new homes to support the need for affordable housing in Nuneaton.
Working in collaboration with Stonewater Housing, Nuneaton Borough Council and Robothams Architecture, we developed a scheme that was in keeping with the existing stock in the area.
The site is adjacent to an existing scheme developed in 2015 by ourselves and another developer. Located adjacent to the busy A444 dual-carriageway we enhanced an existing acoustic bund and fenceline to minimise the impact on the now occupied site.
The units themselves were constructed of a traditional brick & block structure, with emphasis put into the building envelope to follow a ‘Fabric First Solution’. The benefits of this outweigh the maintenance dependant renewable energy systems and reduces the life cycle cost for the client and future tenants.
The creation of two swales, installation of oversized drainage pipes and attenuation crates beneath parking areas helped to reduce the likelihood of flooding.
To aid Stonewater in releasing units to those in need on their housing registers, we segregated the site 2 months prior to completion and released the rental properties in a phased handover.
